Homework Deadline Plan Homework Diary

When it comes to homework, it is not just subject specific skills that are necessary. You might have written the perfect essay or successfully worked through a complicated maths problem but the chances are if you submit your work late, vital marks will be deducted.

Time management might not sound exciting but it should be one of your key priorities if you are set on homework success. Adopting just a few conscientious habits will help you to reduce stress and meet those all important homework deadlines.

Thinking Ahead

Knowing and remembering your deadlines is the first step to organising your homework schedule. As soon as you receive a homework assignment, you should write down details of the task to be completed in a special homework diary. As well as adding an entry on the date the work was set, it is helpful to put a reminder in your diary on the deadline date for your homework task too.

You might also like to add a reminder a day or two before the deadline to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Keeping a note of your extra-curricular activities and social plans is beneficial too. In this way, you can simply flick through your diary to assess your homework load and recreation time for the week or month ahead and can plan your time accordingly. The idea of the perfect work-life balance is relevant to students too!

Planning your Time

It is all to easy to procrastinate, however near your homework deadline might be. In order to avoid this fatal trap, try breaking large homework tasks up into manageable chunks. Experiment with using your diary to set aside blocks of time to work and complete certain tasks or particular parts of a lengthier assignment. Making specific appointments with yourself in this businesslike manner will encourage you to use your time effectively.

Offer yourself incentives; book a two hour homework slot in the morning if you plan to see friends in the afternoon. If you are worried that you wont stick to your personal appointments, ask a family member to check up on you.

Combating Forgetfulness

If you've ever experienced the frustration and personal disappointment of completing a homework task in time for the deadline then forgetting to bring your work along on the day, you'll understand the importance of checking and double checking that your bag is packed as it should be. Packing your bag the night before is an excellent way to ensure the deadline day goes smoothly and you sleep soundly.

Some students find it useful to put a note on their front door so that they are reminded to check their homework is safely with them when they leave their home in the morning. Last but not least, make sure you know in advance exactly when and where your assignment should be handed in to avoid any last minute confusion.

Try to incorporate these simple procedures into your school or college routine and they are sure to become second nature to you in no time. With just a little forward thinking, you can avoid those frantic late night working sessions and the infamous red-faced shame of accidentally missing an important deadline.
